1 nightWatch for falling rocks
This remote staging area sits at the end of a notorious landslide-prone trail. The path features narrow scree slopes that require careful footing. Walk briskly and silently through the landslide sections. Always keep your eyes focused upward to spot falling rocks.
4-6 hours round tripHigh-altitude terrain
This frozen or turquoise glacial lake sits at 4,919 meters. Sheer ice walls from Tilicho Peak flank the water. The hike takes 4 to 6 hours round trip from Base Camp. Start your ascent before sunrise to beat the freezing winds that hit the lake by mid-morning.
